Studies have shown that there is a significant link between niacin and ADHD. One of the reasons why niacin is so helpful because it is something the body needs to function properly. If your child has been suffering with ADHD, you are probably tired of seeing him in pain. There is only so much that you as a parent can do for your child's disorder. You may feel powerless because you do not know all of the facts as well as what really works to cure ADHD.

If you are feeling this way, then you must pay close attention. The niacin and ADHD connection is so strong that there have been claims made that once a child has started using it, the symptoms disappear. Why is this, and exactly what is niacin? Niacin is technically one of the B-complex vitamins. It is the vitamin B3. This particular supplement is responsible for the release of serotonin and balance of other chemicals in the brain directly related to the development and cure of ADHD.

There are other ways to go about getting the right amount of niacin or B3 that your child needs. They include eating a diet high in salmon, tuna, pumpkin seeds, watercress, and sprouts. However, you most likely realize that this is going to be very hard to do considering the fact that your child may resist eating these things every single day.

An ADHD niacin supplement can help control your child's symptoms of hyperactivity, restlessness, inability to concentrate, and irritability. ADHD itself is directly related to an imbalance of certain chemicals in the brain. Once those certain chemicals come into balance naturally, everything else goes back to normal.

One of the major benefits of the niacin and ADHD connection is that it is completely natural. Parents do not have to worry about their children having an adverse reaction to something natural that their bodies need, which is one of the major concerns of parents who give their children prescription medications for the disorder.

Certain side effects that will usually occur in children using prescription medication are nervousness, tremor, rapid heartbeat, diarrhea, upset stomach, nausea, headache, and increased hyperactivity. There is no question as to why more and more parents are considering niacin and ADHD remedies to help relieve their children of their symptoms. They know it is safe, and that alone provides just the right amount of peace of mind.

Other than the fact children with ADHD need niacin, they also need to be eating a healthy diet to make sure they are getting all of their nutrients. This means that they should be consuming a reasonable amount of whole grains, lean meats, vegetables, and fruits each day. Other supplements can be used in addition to an ADHD niacin supplement, but it is important to make sure that the supplement used is natural.

The connection between niacin and ADHD is very obvious. Think about what happens to the body when it is depleted of required nutrients. Problems arise, right? Niacin is considered a required daily supplement, not just one of those that people take because they want to. When you give your child's body what it needs, everything else will fall into place without any problems.

There are many more natural remedies for ADHD. You owe it to your child to do the research. After all, it's their health you're dealing with!

Some weeks ago (it's now November, 2011), I came across some information that suggested a need for niacin in the treatment of ADD/ADHD. But I forgot about it. Ten days ago, I bought a whole foods supplement from Amazon for my son who has celiac disease along with ADD. He was anemic and needed iron. Today the color really started coming back in his face, but he was sweating more than usual, so I went looking for an explanation and realized that it was the niacin in the supplement producing the slight flush in his face and the increased sweating. He is, however, gradually becoming less argumentative just since he started taking the niacin-rich supplement. We had always attributed his arguing with the ADD. He also seems to be more vibrant now, not just in his face, but in his whole being.
